Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1754 - 1812)

Parthia in B  for 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 horns, 2 bassoons

This  wind octet has a copy as source of the Thuringian  Federal Archives in Rudolstadt which took on the music stock of the court of Rudolstadt. The copy names Antonio Rosetti as composer. Copies of three other collections give evidence for Hoffmeister and against Rosetti as author of the work. Hoffmeister is indicated as the  composer on all these sources. (Prof. Sterling E. Murray assigns this work to Hoffmeister in his complete list of the Rosetti's works with the signature B 42 S).
