Charles Bochsa survival data are determined from the literature is difficult. Some sources give his birth date around 1760. Where he received his education is unknown. At first he seems to have served as an oboist, before he moved to the Grand Theatre of Lyons as an oboist in a military regiment. His son, Robert Nicolas Charles Bochsa was born on 9 August 1789 in Montemedy. This later became a famous harp virtuoso of his time. Charles seems to have changed Bochsa Lyon after his appointment to a position similar to Bordeaux. In 1806 he came to Paris to settle down with a local music store and its own music publishing house in the Rue Vivienne N ° 25. Here he also published his own compositions, to distinguish him from his son, he called on the prints Bochsa Pere Charles. His compositions include quartets for clarinet and string trio, quartets for oboe and string trio, duo for 2 oboes and two schools, a method of de flute avec airs as well as a method de clarinet. 1821 died in Bochsa Paris.
The present work:
Ouverture Militaire / pour / Deux Clarinettes, ou deux Hautbois Clarinets, flutes deux, deux Cors de Fa, deux Bassons, Trompette, Serpent, Trombonne et grosse chaise / par / Ch.les Bochsa Pere / 29 Qeuvre

The voices of the oboe are alternatively occupy two clarinets. The clarinets, originally in C, were edited with an additional B-voice. There are also the original voice of the trumpet-F B one more vote. The person playing Serpent will be composed probably very rare. This voice can alternatively be played by double bass or tuba.
