Almost nothing can be found about the composer Alexis Martin. It can be assumed that Martin lived in Paris and played the horn. Some compositions are passed of in prints, for instance 20 duos for two horns, fantasy for horn and piano, Grand Serenade op.2 for 3 Horns and fantasy for horn and orchestra.
This Grand Serenade was published as op.7 by Pleyel in Paris and was dedicated son Ami Charles Castagnes. It was composed some time before 1819. It can be assumed that Martin thought of invention horns for this music.
