The horn-family Belloli is now almost forgotten. Family members are: Belloli Luigi, born in 1770 (other sources speak of 02/02/1769) and died in 1817, his brother Agostino Belloli (1778-1839), Giuseppe Belloli (1775 -?) and the two sons of Luigi Belloli, Giovanni (1794 - after 1846) and Giacomo (1795 -).
All played horn in various orchestras in Italy.
From Luigi, Agostino and Giuseppe Belloli compositions have been preserved.
Luigi Belloli first played in Parma and in 1803 went to the La Scala in Milan as the first hornist. There he worked also in the Conservatory as a teacher until his death 1817. His brother Agostino followed him in as Professor for Horn. Learn more about Luigi Belloli in french-horn.net
45 Quartets for 4 Horns
- First edition -
Quartet for 4 Horns - No. 24 Larghetto
For this edition many sources have been used. Main source was a copy of 39 quartets in votes, as well as a copy of the score of 42 quartets, both of which were made in 1830. The latter comes from Carlo Alinovi who studied from 1 February 1826 to the October 4, 1829 at Bellolis brother Agostino in Milan Horn.
Bellolis quartets are, just look at it in that he could have no valve instruments, extraordinarily in the chromatic treatment of the instruments.
The edition was divided because of the extent to 2 volumes. Band 1 with the numbers 1 - 23 can be found here.
