Description

Johannes Matthias Sperger

Sperger was born in Feldberg (Valtice/Czechia, today Austria) in 1750. He was trained as a bass player and worked at courts of Großwardstein and Eisenstadt. He was employed at the court of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He died in 1812.

Concerto Eb major for Horn and Orchestra

The manuscript of this concerto  is kept in the music collection of the library Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin. It is composed in the style of the Viennese classical music. This is likely unusual by the place of its genesis.


The concert was played in  on CD of Miklós Nagy in the complete setting in the year 2003
