Concert a 5 for Horn, 2 Violins, Viola and Basso continuo
Friedrich Wilhlem Riedt was born in Berlin on 5th January 1710. His father was born in England and got employed at the royal court of Berlin as "Silberdiener" (servant for silver). Friedrich was also employed as "Silberdiener" but after a short time he began to study together with Johann Gottlieb Graun. In 1741, he became flautist in the royal chapel of Friedrich the Great. In 1749, he was appointed as the director of the "Music practical society of Berlin", which he had founded together with others. He died in Berlin 5th January 1783.
The concerto on hand is property of the music collection of the library of Schwerin with the signature Mus 4467/1 and dates from the time 1750.
