Hoffmeister’s Concerto belongs to a series of works for solo horn(s). Hoffmeister composed for the hornists Zwierzina and Nagel two concertos for two horns (edit as ROM 27 and ROM 28) and even one concerto for three horns, which is only known because of the preserved second movement, the Romance (ROM 35).
2010 is edit the first Concerto for Horn D major as ROM 282
Hoffmeister’s concertos were very often played, as we can see by the numorous performances in that time. In Leipzig, for example, we know of three performances ( 1782, 1799, 1808).
