Concerto in Dis / per il / Corno da Caccia Secondo / Concertato / violinist Duo bus / Viola / col / Basso / Del Sigl. Giovani Mattia Somer
This is the title of a copy, which originally comes from the northern Bohemian monastery Osek.
The composer is a high probability of Regensburg musician Johann Matthias Sommer, who in the court orchestra between 1755 - 1783 worked. Biographical information is not to determine the Imperial Library in Regensburg recorded 18 concertos for flute and oboe for 12 concerts.
Why only concerts have been handed down for Winds by Sommer is unclear. Maybe he played violin in addition to still oboe or flute. If the present work was composed for a bugler from Regensburg, so it is most likely a native of Bohemia Joseph Fritsch (* - after 1806) in question. This played as the second horn von 1766 - 1785 in the court orchestra of Regensburg, before that he had been in 1752 in the court orchestra of Count von Oettingen-Wallerstein, together with Joseph Türrschmidt (1725-1800) employed. There Franz Xaver Pokorny wrote (1729 - 1794) in 1754 also a Concerto per il Corno Secundo Principale, most likely for Fritsch. "Principale Corno Secundo" With the specification refer to the range. Displays a concert for "Corno primo principale" most virtuosic level, so it is in the case of Corno secundo the middle and lower register, with virtuoso octave leaps and avoiding extreme high notes.
The present edition is the first edition of the work.
